Leyla
Leyla your Arabic name means Night
But by Persian blessing you are
The Dawn’s First Light
Opposites contained within and without
From moon to sunrise, but
I am thinking now of the moon
And 3 Septembers back when we saw
A Harvest Moon so bright
In Vermont’s West Mowing and leafless tree with
Lacy fingers at twilight obstructing
Its perfect orange glow
So we could not speak but with whispers
For the beauty of it
Tonight the Harvest Moon returns
Watch for it and think of me
And the wood-burning stove
And the luna moth that came to our window
To warn us
Watch for it this night
When it is
Best seen low
Best seen in the still darkness
With the breath of wonder
